Day 1 | Arrive at explora Atacama
Reception at the Calama airport and transfer to the explora Atacama Hotel, located close to San Pedro de Atacama. (D)

Day 2 | Morning Pukara and Chiu Chiu / Afternoon Valley of the Moon
EXAMPLE EXCURSIONS
Morning - Length: 4 hours. Leave explora by van toward Calama, stopping first in Chiu-Chiu, to visit the region’s oldest adobe church. Continue on to Pukará de Lasana, an ancient Atacaman Indian village. Return to hotel or continue on to the airport in Calama. Available: Morning. Altitude: 2,400 meters. Other: It is recommended that guests choose this excursion for their last day, so that they can continue on to the airport nearby.

Afternoon - Length: 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours of walking. Distance: 3 km. Itinerary: Leave explora by van (30 min.) to Valle de la Luna. Walk through the Cordillera de la Sal until arriving at a lookout point where we wait for sunset. Return by van (20 min.) to explora. Available: Afternoon. Altitude: 2,400 to 2,500 meters. Level: Easy to medium. Description of terrain: Walk is over relatively flat, sandy terrain. The last 10 minutes of walking is up an irregular trail to the lookout point. Descend approx. 3 meters of rock and then down a sand dune. (B,L,D)

Day 3 | Morning Archeaological Tour / Afternoon Atacama Salt Flat
EXAMPLE EXCURSIONS
Morning - Length: 3 1/2 hours. Leave explora by van to the superb Padre le Paige Museum. Guided visit through the museum. By van to Tulor, followed by a walk around the ancient village to view the ruins. Continue by van to the Pukará de Quitor, by foot around the ancient Atacaman Indian fort, with an option to climb to the top. Return by van to explora.

Afternoon - Length: 3 to 3 1/2 hours of traveling in van. Leave explora in a van to the Salar de Atacama, visiting the Laguna Chaxa. Return to explora via the town of Toconao. It is preferable to do this excursion in the afternoon, to view the sun set over the salt flat. (B,L,D)

Day 4 | Full day Tatio Geysers and Puritama Hot Springs
EXAMPLE EXCURSION
Length: 10 hours. Leave explora by van to the Tatio Geyserfields. Stroll around site to view the spectacular geysers. Breakfast. Drive to the Puritama Hot Springs for a swim followed by a buffet picnic lunch. Return to explora by van. (B,L,D)

Day 5 | Depart explora Atacama
At the agreed upon time, depart for your flight to Santiago. (B)
