We will start a 5 hour drive along the spectacular Austral Road, which will lead us to the Puyuhuapi Hot Springs, the tourist centre in the middle of Patagonia. This country road runs through the unspoiled landscapes of Southern Chile. This area has been declared a World Biosphere Reserve.
In Puyuhuapi we will take the Catamaran that will take us to Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa. In the evening you will arrive to Puyuhuapi lodge & Spa. Overnight.
Free day to enjoy the facilities available at this Patagonian tourist centre. The cosy bar, the restaurant with typical Chilean Gastronomy (i.e. exquisite shellfish), the pool table and the video room. You will also have the chance to relax in the revitalising open air thermal baths, at sea level and surrounded by giant ferns and unspoiled vegetation. Overnight.
Visit to Puerto Puyuhuapi with its characteristic architecture. For those amongst you who would like to see more sights of this region, an additional excursion can be booked to the Queulat National Park where you can also admire the impressive “Hanging Glacier”. The afternoon is at leisure when you may hire a motor- or rowing boat, kayak, canoe, windsurf or water-skis. Overnight.

In the morning we will take a walk through the rainforest to a nearby beach where we will enjoy a beautiful view over Dorita Bay and its fish farm. We will also be able to observe the wide variety of flora and birdliife of the region. Afternoon Free. Overnight.
At 07.30 hrs. the Patagonia Express catamaran sets sail from the hotel. The catamaran will sail along the Seno Ventisquero, Puyuhuapi, Moraleda and Costa Channels and into the Golfo Tres Cruces and the Estuario Elefantes. At around 14.00 hrs. we will finally enter San Rafael Lagoon where we will find the San Rafael glacier with its enormous mountains of 20,000 year old ice. We will spend several hours sailing these waters and getting close to the multicoloured ice floes. We will also witness the spontaneous and thunderous displacements of ice from the glacier’s face littering the lagoon with multicoloured ice floes. Weather permitting, on board rubber boats you approach the bizarre ice sculptures. Later we will start the journey back to Chacabuco Port, with an estimated arrival at 10.00 PM Disembark and transfer to the hotel. Overnight.
In the morning departure for Coyhaique driving along the banks of the Simpson River, through the capital of Aysén Region and after approximately two and a half hours we will arrive to Balmaceda airport from where you will fly to Puerto Montt ( or Santiago ) . |
